Beijing fixed all events for the 2008 Olympics

Chinanews, May 1 - All competition items for the 2008 Beijing Summer
Olympics have been finalized. The 28 sports are composed of 302 events,
comprising 165 men's events, 127 women's events and 10 mixed events.
Those 28 sports are track and field, rowing, badminton, baseball,
basketball, boxing, canoe-kayak, cycling, equestrianism, fencing,
football, gymnastics, weight lifting, handball, hockey, judo, wrestling,
aquatics, modern pentathlon, softball, tae kwon do, tennis, table tennis,
shooting, archery, triathlon, sailing and volleyball.
Compared with the 2004 Athens Olympics, the 2008 Beijing Olympics adds
two women's events and as a result, female athletes are predicted to
increase 125, which accords with the efforts made by the International
Olympic Committee to enhance women's participation.
The 2008 Olympic Games set up some new events, including women's 3,000m
steeplechase, men's and women's BMX, women's foil and saber team events,
and men's and women's 10,000m marathon swimming.
Table tennis doubles will be cancelled and replaced by team events in the
2008 Olympic Games.
